
Even if you don’t need to use form controls, XML, or add-ins, it’s nice to know where they are. If opening the Developer tab and clicking a button is a little too much work, you can also open the editor with the keyboard shortcut Alt+F11, which works whether the Developer tab is enabled or not. The Developer tab opens up some very powerful possibilitiesespecially if you take advantage of Excel automation with Visual Basic and Excel macros.

The Developer tab will now appear on the Ribbon and from it you can open the Visual Basic Editor. Click on the control and it will appear wherever your cursor was located.
